Do we get used to pro mote Chinese pro pagan da? Should we write about the greatest economical system on earth – from the “independent” view of an international student (who needs a good grading from his Chinese professor to complete the Chinese university program)?

We did these first excursions together with the students from another exchange program of the London School of Economics (LSE). The whole trip got filmed by a professional TV cameraman, we still don’t know why this was done… maybe University has a contract for delivering a new image video for the companies? 😉 My flatmate and me (busiest and most motivated students of both exchange programs) were at the bus as one of the first ones and had to wait more than 40 minutes for the other guys being late and grumpy in the moringins (D: Morgenmuffel). By way of compension we just got sleepy in the bus and arrived well rested after a 5 hours trip…

European style food ordering – difficult…

In our destination city we made our first stop at a restaurant. Nils and me decided to share some dishes – like Chinese – and also we do nearly all the time. Like its Chinese tradition, normally one person per table gets through the buffet and decides which meals all people on the table will share and orders them. But imagine what happens if 30 to 40 European guys try to post their orders by themselves at the buffet, later searching for a person holding one of the four ordering lists, getting back to the tables and trying to fetch, remember and associate the right food with the right person on the right table… wonderful… 🙂 We got really good food (e.g. sweet pumpkins), but I cannot name any of the dishes.

    Da quo group, GS Energy

One of the most important company groups in China is this one – at least its what they told us… With about 7000 employees in 23 companies they are serving a wide range of areas – Railway, Electric, High voltage switchgears, busbars, etc etc. It got interesting when they trieded to emphasize that they are environmental friendly, forcing development of new materials and technologies and using renewable sources like wind and solar. They just let the pictures from their flyer unmentioned where they are showing new nuclear reactors in front of nice landscape and beautiful sky…

For me as technical student both (general) presentations were at least in some aspects interesting, but the others of our group expected specialized presentations about e.g. marke ting, public relations or corporate social responsibility – just what we didn’t get like you see on the pictures faces below…

Our professor tries to translate Chinese into English, but his son was not that amused that his father spent so much time with someone and not with him…

    Strange facts for KJ

KJ carefully listened to the Chinese explanations the lady gave. After some minutes of silent listening she stopped, he started laughing and started his translation to us with the words… “…so far, what I understood – was…”

    1. I guess the first guy with book.

    2. Hi, Dave! I love you so much (lol), as your blog is the only one written in English in our buddies ^8^! I have read Julia and Corrina’s blog regularly, it’s “brain-consuming”, besides I dare not to leave a message as I’m afraid I may make grammar mistakes (-_-). Anyway, see you later in BJ!
