Mexico

After a short stopover in L.A. we continued our trip to Mexico City. The historic city centre is beautiful and the street food is amazing. On the main square performance artists show off their skills and impress tourists from all over the world. We visited the massive pyramids of Teotihuacan in the north of Mexico City. With our Italian friend Federico we made our way south to Oaxaca. In the [&hellip

Sydney

Our last stop in Australia was Sydney. Baptiste, a really nice french guy, was hosting us during our stay. Most of the time we explored the city by foot. At night Baptiste showed us some insider backstreet bars. Like in prohibition times you walk down a small staircase into a cellar and find another world beyond the doorstep. It immediately reminded us of the roaring 20s. With bartenders wearing suspenders [&hellip

Lederhosening Australia

After 4 months in Asia it was time to move on to a new continent: Australia. We were overwhelmed by the hospitality of the Aussies but also by the average prices here. It’s much more expensive than we expected… Our first stop was Brisbane where we rented a car to continue our journey to Cairns. Before heading north we drove down the coast to Byron Bay, a lovely beach town, [&hellip

Lederhosening the Bamboo Train

“All aboard, everybody off, all aboard, everybody off”. Bamboo trains are simple and lightweight frames with about three meters in length, made out of bamboo at home. And because the railway-track is single lined, it can happen that two bamboo trains from different directions face each other. Simple rule: The bamboo train with less weight has to be disassembled, put off the rails, the other “train” can pass, and the [&hellip

Snake versus Gecko in Cambodia

A Cambodian snake chokes a still alife gecko, he bites back the snake and a cruelful and slow fight for about two hours begins… We had the great luck to see this natural spectacle – not in a zoo, but in wild Cambodia. And note: The short video is just the summary of hours!

Best of India

We chose India as kick off-destination for our world trip and were overwhelmed about how breathtaking this country was, too astonishingly to describe in detail. Summing up our trip, we visited the following spots: Mumbai-Udaipur-Kumbhalgarh-Ranakpur-Jodhpur-Jaisalmer-Jaipur-Agra-Khajuraho-Varanasi-Calcutta. Enjoy a picture-potpourri of our impressions dedicated to Incredible India!

Desert life is hard life, Thar Desert, India

“I would not recommend going more than one day! The saddles are so hard it hurts like hell”, the Swiss backpacker Aaron advised us when we told him about our plans. But there are no test reports about riding camels with Lederhosen. That’s why we realized our plan: A four days/three nights camel safari in the Thar Desert in Jaisalmer, near the Pakistanian border. We chose a strictly non-touristic version [&hellip

Taj Mahal, and Leather Shoes?

One of India’s most famous monuments is: the Taj Mahal in Agra! Unfortunately, this year’s January was not the perfect month for visiting Agra, as the weather was foggy most of the time and clear sight with blue sky was only a matter of luck. But we managed to see the impressive white marble mausoleum built from Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his dead wife Mumtaz Mahal. The creation which [&hellip

Social project: Education in the slums of Jaipur

Following the kind invitation of Shyam, a guy we met by chance in the old town of Jaipur, we visited an effortful social project intended to give poor slum dwellers the opportunity to educate their children. Actually, we were overwhelmed by the extremely warm welcome and hospitality of his family: his wife and five children, three girls and two boys aged between two and twelve years. Without any governmental help, [&hellip

“Jungle-Trekking” in Kumbhalgarh

In the nature resort near the fort Kumbhalgarh we learned about the possibility to do a so called “Jungle safari”. We packed our trekking shoes, our backpacks and put on our  Knickerbocker Lederhosen. Directed by a middle-aged local forest guide who was wearing old used-looking sandals –sic!-, through an extremely heterogeneous mountain area, we hiked more than 16 km in four hours! Unluckily we didn’t find anything which was looking [&hellip
