Cusco was our starting point for the Salkantay Trek. For five days we walked over mountain passes, through the jungle and finally alongside a train track in pouring rain to get to Machu Picchu, the perhaps most familiar icon of the Inca World.

Our trip through Peru took us to Arequipa. The monastery there is like an own town within the city.

In the nearby Colca Canyon we observed the flight of the condors. These majestic animals are the largest flying land birds in the Western Hemisphere.
Our trip continued to Bolivia via Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in South America, in the south of Peru. On its islands we learned about the indigenous culture and their colorful dress codes. E.g. from someones clothes you can tell if he/she is married or single, a member of the authorities, etc.
