Directly after the boat trip at Ha Long Bay, we took a night train from Hanoi to Lao Cai. A mini bus drove us straight into the mist of the mountain villages Sapa and Ba Ca, that are both famous for two things: The idyllic scenery dominated by rice terraces and the colorful culture with many ethnic minority groups, all wearing their traditional garments. As we finally found our way out of the fog, we were able to see the well-known views and experience the local habits and traditions of the Thew Mong, Day, Tay, and Dao people. Three world traveler in traditional Austrian Lederhosen and the typical clothing of the hill tribes, what a splendid get-together! We are graceful for their authentic hospitality!
