Bright red Christ Church (1753)“Lovers of beauty and food will become instantly intoxicated by the sultry charms of Melaka.” Lonely Planet

One of Malaysias cities with the most history is the beautiful colonialization town Melaka.

In the 14th century Melaka was chosen as strategically harbour to resupply trading ships by a Sumatran Hindu prince. The city got protected by the Chinese in 1405, dominated by the Portuguese in 1511, then the Dutch in 1641 and finally ceded to the British in 1795. Because of this you can imagine that there are several districts like Chinatown, Litte India,.. as well as lots of mixed / intermingled people.

I stayed at an old place called “Eastern Heritage”. A beautiful backpacker, small indoor swimming pool – and an owner who is running it since 20 years. Jen is more than 60 years old – but we enjoyed a nice night out, where he was showing me Melakas “nightlife”. To be more accurate – some billiard pool bars, cheap beer places which were always closing too early (but he knew the correct order in which we had to visit them 🙂 ).
